That do not exist, or are simply inadequate<\/p>\n
At naming those moments of need so great<\/p>\n
We can barely breathe. Still, we have begun<\/p>\n
To speak of what, despite those differences,<\/p>\n
Is shocking but common to us both\u2014how<\/p>\n
The naked openness of our feelings in grief<\/p>\n
Has returned us to an intimacy like the one<\/p>\n
We felt with our newborns. There\u2019s a raw tenderness<\/p>\n
Between us now in the words we speak<\/p>\n
At the end of our day, as if we were both writing<\/p>\n
To our dead son, even as we allow ourselves<\/p>\n
To be sealed in sleep, like an envelope to be<\/p>\n
Placed in the mailbox, flag up, an envelope<\/p>\n
